Today's Word—Journalistic Hygiene

Advice to journalists:

“Better keep yourself clean and bright; you are the window through which you must see the world.”
—George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950), playwright and social commentator (Thanks to alert WORDster Anne Gallagher)

  1. I've known a lot of journalists. Not many of them are all that bright, although most are reasonably clean. And that includes me.

It's important for journalists to remember that the public does see the world through them. We trot that out when we're under attack, but forget too easily how important is our responsibility to be as clean and bright as we can.
